October 14, 2025-Old King’s Orchard Community Center (OKO) held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday to mark the opening of its new outdoor basketball court, “King’s Court,” located at 815 N. Church St.

The event included a variety of family-oriented activities such as face painting, balloon sculptures, bounce houses, live music, a dance performance, and basketball contests for all age groups.

“We’re here in the name of community development and what I’m trying to do is make sure the people of our inner-city have things that is for them…..If no one comes out today, we still won, the basketball courts are here and we know over this next year, or over the next five years, the construction of the kids will come, after they put dirt over me these courts will still be here.” said Executive Director of Old King’s Orchard Devon Joyner.

OKO acknowledged the City of Decatur for its partnership and support in completing the project. The court’s construction was part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing neighborhood spaces to promote recreation, community connection, and youth engagement.
