November 20, 2025 – Michael E. Baum Elementary School celebrated its 50th anniversary with a special school-wide assembly and community open house Thursday.
The 50th anniversary celebration featured guest speakers Barb White and Russ Baum, followed by a community open house and school tour.
In addition to the celebration, The Rotary Club of Decatur announced the donation of a new book vending machine at Baum. The vending machine is a token operated system used to reward students for good behavior, as well as promote literacy and lifelong reading.
The Rotary Club also made an ongoing commitment to keep the machine stocked with books.
