May 18, 2026 – The History of the Heartland will host its sixth annual Living Legends event on Thursday, May 21 in downtown Decatur, celebrating the legacy of St. Teresa High School football.
The free public event will take place in the back room at Doherty’s, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the program beginning at 6 p.m. A cash bar will be available, and attendees are encouraged to dine at the restaurant before or after the program.
This year’s Living Legends event will focus on St. Teresa High School football alumni and coaches, bringing together former players and staff to share stories and memories from past teams. The evening will be moderated by emcee Aric Lee and will include remarks from Coach Ed Boehm, Joe Venturi, Pat Dawson, Kevin Boaz, and others.
Event organizer Ayn Owens said the series is built on community storytelling and volunteer participation, noting that this year’s effort has been strengthened by Kevin Boaz’s outreach to former players and coaches.
All St. Teresa football players, coaches, and announcers from past eras are invited to attend and take part in a moderated panel discussion. The event will be recorded for the History of the Heartland YouTube channel.
Those interested in attending can call 217-791-1385 for more information.
