October 5, 2026 – HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital will host a pet blessing ceremony Thursday, October 8, in honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Cancer Care Healing Garden at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital.
Community members are invited to bring their pets to be blessed and to recognize the companionship and comfort animals provide to their families.
All pets are welcome. Pet owners are asked to keep animals safely secured on a leash or in a carrier.
The hospital says the event is part of a longstanding tradition honoring St. Francis of Assisi and his association with animals and care for all of creation.
