January 31, 2022 – The Human Trafficking Research Lab at Millikin University is partnering with the Set Free Movement-Macon County to host the 5th annual panel discussion for Human Trafficking Awareness Month entitled “Human Trafficking Education.”
The panel discussion will be held today at 6 p.m. in the Bob and Debi Johnston Banquet Room located on the 3rd floor of the University Commons on Millikin University’s campus.
The panel will feature local human trafficking experts Matthew Fuller, human trafficking training specialist for the Center for Prevention of Abuse in Peoria, Ill.; Cindy Kuro, prevention educator for the Set Free Movement-Macon County in Decatur, Ill.; and Cheris Larson, program manager for Project OZ in Bloomington, Ill.
The event will feature a discussion on how officials work to educate people about trafficking in central Illinois and the major pitfalls and opportunities in educating the public about the issue.
Attendees will also be able to support the anti-trafficking movement by bringing a donation for Grounds of Grace, a local not-for-profit organization working with trafficking victims in the local community. If you would like to donate please bring any of the following items: toilet paper, trash bags, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, cosmetics, shampoo, lotion and/or nail polish.
