March 14, 2022 – Seven local non-profits received a grant from Decatur Rotary Club 180 to be used for programs that benefit local youth. This funding was made possible through the Rotary Community Grants program.
The 2022 recipients are:
- Decatur Area Arts Council – $500 – International Arts Exhibit – History of the Circus in Illinois
- Young Leaders in Action – $300 – Providing support to the volunteers of CASA over the holidays.
- Macon County Farm Bureau Foundation – $1000 – Agucation – Ag Education program for 5th-grade students in Macon County
- Child 1st Center – $200 – Teaching the youth at Old Kings Orchard Center on how to prepare basic meals
- Baby Talk – $1500 – Purchasing books to help educate youth on international cultures and customs
- Decatur Parks Foundation – $1500 – Improvements and expansion of the Juneteenth program
“Rotary’s Community Grants program is one of the many ways we promote the Rotary motto, service above self”, says Decatur Rotary Club President, Melanie Rapp. “Our club is committed to creating lasting change in our local community and beyond.”
The purpose of the grants program is to support activities and programs that will have a beneficial impact on the community and improve the quality of life in the Decatur area. Specifically, the club looks to fund programs that benefit youth and programs that expose them to different cultures, customs and languages.
