Illinois Department of Employment Security Declares Additional State Extended Benefits

By Michelle Mitchell Aug 6, 2020 | 9:41 PM

The Illinois Department of Employment Security made the announcement today that there will be an additional 20 weeks of state extended benefits.  The extended benefits are now available to those who exhausted the 26 weeks of regular state unemployment as well as the additional 13 weeks of federal Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits.

During times of “high unemployment” Illinois law provides for 20 weeks of extended benefits, rather than the 13 weeks of extended benefits that were made available in May. If you have questions or need assistance with unemployment benefits, visit IDES.Illinois.gov.
