August 20, 2020 – Yesterday, Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren shared an open letter with the conference community. In it, he stated that the vote to postpone fall sports will not be revisited. The decision has faced scrutiny from coaches, fans and parents due to an abrupt change from the original plan of a 10 game, conference-only schedule. Warren claims there is too much uncertainty and health risks involved with the pandemic. In order to prepare for future fall sports seasons, the Big Ten has assembled a return to competition task force.
Many are scrutinizing Warren because his son is a college football player and has yet to opt-out of playing for Mississippi State this season.
