June 9, 2022 – On Wednesday, June 8, the Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce held an Ag Café featuring Robin Bowen from the Corn Refiners Association (CRA).
Bowen is the Senior Vice President of External Affairs for the CRA, the trade association representing the corn milling industry. She manages CRA’s engagement with federal and state policymakers on legislative and regulatory issues as well as other agriculture, industry, and public policy organizations. She also leads CRA’s Government Relations Committee.
In her speech, Bowen discussed how their industry uses corn to make hundreds of products (which include bioplastics, healthcare products, cosmetics, and more). She also described the impact corn growers have on the economy. More than 43 million people work in agribusiness in the country providing $2.3 trillion in wages. Illinois provides 1.7 million jobs, producing $105.2 billion in wages.
