October 9, 2020 – Saturday, October 10 is World Homeless Day. The purpose of World Homeless Day is to bring attention to those who experience homelessness needs in local communities and help give opportunities for community involvement in responding to homelessness. During a pandemic, it is more important now than ever to help make a difference in someone’s life. Homelessness and housing insecurity rates have steadily climbed since the pandemic began in March.
WorldHomelessDay.org suggests the following ways to help make an impact: Educate people about homeless issues. Celebrate and support local good works. Highlight local issues in the media.
