By Michelle Mitchell Oct 27, 2020 | 7:05 PM

October 27, 2020 – Patrons of Decatur Public library will now be able to access digital magazines using Flipster from EBSCO Information Services.  Flipster is a next-generation magazine service that allows readers to browse digital versions of the latest issues of popular magazines, courtesy of the library.  Decatur Public Library has Flipster versions of magazines like The Atlantic, Black EOE Journal, Consumer Reports, Eating Well, Fast Company, Parents Latina, Travel & Leisure, The Nation, and more for Decatur Public Library patrons to access at the library or remotely.

Magazines can be downloaded to Android phones or tablets, Apple phones and tablets, and Kindle Fire tablets for offline reading, anywhere and anytime.  Flipster is an easy, browseable reading experience.  Users can browse magazines by category as well as perform searches for specific periodicals.  Flipster’s online newsstand provides a carousel of the most recent issues that can be accessed quickly.  The table of contents holds links for quick access to articles of interest and hotlinks within magazines are hyperlinked, opening in separate tabs.

“During the COVID-19 lockdown, Decatur Public Library was prepared with e-content including books, movies, databases and services, but we were lacking in magazines and periodicals. Now that there is greater need for e-content, we wanted to bridge this gap with Flipster .” Alissa T. Henkel, Head of Programs, Resources & Services.
