November 4, 2020 – Governor J.B. Pritzker said yesterday that communities need to follow state-issued COVID-19 safety rules. Some bars and restaurants have vowed to stay fully open, regardless of mitigations not allowing indoor dining. Governor Pritzker explained why local leaders and law enforcement need to take the mitigations seriously.
“Weeks from now when people will end up going to the hospital as a result of these gatherings that are being allowed…those local officials and people who live in those areas will be coming to the state to ask us what are we going to do to add hospital space when the hospitals are full,” said Pritzker.
COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations have increased in Illinois, with over 7,000 new cases confirmed today.
