Santa Shyler was running a little behind due to the kid’s Winter Break, however our Teacher of the Month surprise came right on time! Thanks to our sponsors: Corley Family Dental, Glenda Williamson Realty, and 1st MidAmerica Credit Union, our December Teacher of the Month is Mr Wallen, science teacher at Maroa Forsyth Middle School! He was consistently nominated since the school year started and we are so excited to be able to crown him as our final Teacher of the Month for 2023! Here’s what some of his nominations said:
“I nominate Mr. Wallen as teacher of the month. I am now in high school and his teacher has helped me out a ton. His teaching helped me pass my exam in his class also helped me on my health and biology test in high school. He is able to help you and teach you in a way no teach can. He’ll explain something and make sure you get what you’re learning. He is also overall a great guy. He is the best teacher in the school”
“I’m nominating this teacher because when I went to MFMS, Mr. Wallen never once failed to let me know that he cared about me as a person, not just if I got the assignments done in his class. He’s a person that you can tell anything to without being judged, and treats every student that he’s taught like family. Sometimes that’s all I needed, especially when things were rough at home.”
“Mr. Wallen is an amazing teacher and he makes sure that every student understands what he is teaching before moving on. I also think he is a great teacher because he goes around and asks questions, making studying fun and easier to memorize.”
“Mr Wallen is seriously one of the best science teachers I have ever met. Not only does he make learning science fun, but he goes out of the way to make sure people understand what he is teaching before moving on. He does fun labs that not only teach scientific concepts but also make students be able to see the relationship between the classroom and the real world. He himself is an extremely down to earth guy. He has built such strong and unique relationships with every single one of his students, and it is really amazing to see him extend himself beyond the classroom.”
“I would love to nominate this teacher because every time I see him, he always has a smile on his face, and he always looks happy to be teaching. He is also really good at teaching. I say this because he does a perfect job at explaining what we are doing or learning. But if I do not understand what he is teaching, I always understand by the time he is done explaining it to me, which I think is great. He also always makes me feel happy to be in his class because he is always interacting with his students.”
“We love the way he connects with the students and how he is all of our dads.”
