March 26, 2021 – Governor Pritzker says that the state is acting aggressively in order to combat the first signs of a possible COVID-19 resurgence. Most recently, more than 3,000 cases were reported by the IDPH, which is the highest daily total since early February.

Governor Pritzker says that with that in mind, they are expanding vaccine eligibility where possible.

“We have said to those providers where they’re seeing a slow down in demand because a significant portion of their population has received a dose or both doses, we’ve allowed them to open up to everybody in their community that’s 16 years old and over.” said Pritzker.

67% of seniors 65 and older in Illinois have been vaccinated. That’s near the 70% required to move to the new “bridge: phase, but the Governor says they will also be looking at the recent uptick in COVID hospital admissions.
