Eisenhower High School students heard a message of resilience and overcoming adversity Tuesday from author and motivational speaker Damon West.
West, author of The Coffee Bean: A Simple Lesson to Create Positive Change, shared his personal journey from Division I athlete and corporate professional to addiction and prison, followed by a remarkable recovery and return to success.
West has spoken to schools and organizations across Illinois and around the country, using his experiences to encourage students to navigate challenges, make positive choices and persevere through adversity.
His presentation was part of an assembly hosted at Eisenhower High School by Decatur Public Schools.
